Kevin
Joyce, a lifetime resident of the Southwest Community, is in
his third term as State Representative of the 35th District.
His work at home and in Springfield is a continuation of
seventeen years of civic and community involvement.
Kevin’s
priorities are improving the quality of our children’s
education, ensuring our seniors have access to affordable
prescription drugs, and keeping our neighborhoods safe so
that parents can raise their children in a nurturing
environment.
As your
State Representative, Kevin authored the Truth-In-Tuition
law which freezes college tuition at a public university at
the student’s freshman year level. Kevin was instrumental in
the installation of new and safer train crossing gates in
Evergreen Park, Chicago and Blue Island that end the need
for trains to blow their whistles. He was also one of the
main advocates in the struggle to create Illinois Rx Senior
Prescription Drug Program.
Kevin has
served on the Board of Directors of both the Illinois Crime
Commission and the Keep Chicago Beautiful Environmental
Foundation. He is also an active member of the Beverly Area
Planning Association and Mount Greenwood Local Redevelopment
Corporation.
Kevin and
his wife Krista, are the proud parents of Cameron, Kalia,
Jessica, Michael, and Kristen. The Joyce family lives on
Chicago’s southwest side and are active members of St.
Cajetan Roman Catholic Church. Kevin is also a football
coach at St. Xavier University.
